One for the Road (Hong Kong)

It was 7 in the morning when I touched down Hong Kong. The redeye flight from Japan was exhausting in spite of the comfortable seat on the plane.

Coming from a company trip in the land of the rising sun, I just needed a quick solo trip before going back to the daily grind back in Manila. So after 4 days of hotels and resorts, I was back to my usual backpacking routine.

First thing I did once I touched down?

Breakfast!

Then headed to the hostel to check in and drop my stuff.

There were so many things I wanted to do and places I wanted to see but I only had one night there.

Here’s how I spent it:

Walk around to explore.

They say solo traveling is somehow like soul searching. Doing this for quite sometime now, I couldn’t agree more.

Every activity you do, every sight you see, essentially EVERY THING about the trip, may it be big or small, contributes to the experience.

Like this simple incident for example.

I came across this old couple who, despite their age, still walked with their fingers locked, would occasionally caress each other’s arm, and both guided each other as they take a slow stroll.

It was such a nice and heartwarming sight to see. Who would have thought love like this still exists? It was the epitome of #relationshipgoals.

I enjoyed seeing street art everywhere

And how the whole city was surrounded by buildings.

And of course, as I always say. The best part about traveling solo?

Meeting people!

A bunch of people from the hostel got together and decided to go to a rooftop bar nearby.

We had a few drinks

while enjoying the view.

After happy hour, we got our own booze

and chilled at the hostel.

IMG_5540.jpg

And oh! The owner of the hostel bought us pizza!

Huuuuuuuuuge slices of pizza!

It was a fun night. It always is when you make new friends. πŸ™‚

The next day was my second and last day to see Hong Kong.

The experience was short was I had fun. Here’s a glimpse of what I did and saw that day:

Again with me and older people. It melts my heart to see them rekindle their youth. ❀

The whole day was all about walking and exploring.

IMG_5677.jpg

I had no idea where I was going but I just following where my feet will take me!

And after a whole day of getting lost, I finally had to find my way back to the hostel to get my bag then head straight to the airport.

It was a short trip but it was fun nonetheless. Another destination ticked off my list!

Here’s the whole trip on video. Enjoy!
